If you sponsor a student through Africa New Life, we invite you to come and meet them in person. Our dedicated U.S. and Rwandan staff will collaborate with you to design a meaningful trip centered around our ministry, ensuring a memorable experience for everyone involved. We look forward to partnering with you on this incredible journey!

Africa New Life trips are designed with intentionality and adhere to the principles of When Helping Hurts. Before you travel, Africa New Life helps prepare you through pre-trip learning and reflection. While in Rwanda, we encourage you to take a posture of learning. Our trips are not about fixing; we focus on engaging honestly and equitably with both ministry staff and those we serve. You will learn what our ministry does and how your support and partnership help enhance the lives of so many! Africa New Life hopes for travelers to connect, further their discipleship, and deepen their spiritual life.

Visiting Rwanda with Africa New Life transforms lives.

As you immerse yourself in Rwanda’s inspiring story of hope and forgiveness, your faith deepens. Walking alongside Africa New Life’s Christ-centered, Rwandan-led ministry, you will witness the profound impact of education, discipleship, and community development. Your engagement in cultural learning and connection with the people of Rwanda fosters a deeper commitment to peace and reconciliation.

The journey doesn’t end when you return home; the Holy Spirit will continue to inspire your personal growth and application in your everyday life.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR TRIP:

Each trip’s schedule is tailored to the team composition and the specific needs of the ministry in Rwanda. We aim to harness each team’s unique gifts, heart, and passion. The focus and activities of the trip will be shaped by the dynamics of the team, ensuring a meaningful and impactful experience for everyone involved.

Below are activities that most teams will participate in:

  • Attend church in one of the Africa New Life Communities
  • Visit Rwandan communities
  • Engage with a specific ministry or community
  • Participate in home visits, providing sponsors the opportunity to meet their sponsored students
  • Visit a Genocide Memorial, commonly the Nyamata Memorial and the Kigali Genocide Memorial
  • Work with the Dream Kids Program
  • Visit the Women’s Vocational Training Center
  • Learn about Rwanda’s resilience and reconciliation by visiting a Reconciliation village
  • Experience a day in the life of a Rwandan, engaging with the local community

Cost and Duration: 

Standard Trip Cost: $2,200 + Airfare + Excursions

Our standard trip includes an 8-day, 8-night trip hosted at our Africa New Life Guest House in Kigali. Given a number of variables and your team’s goals for the trip, Africa New Life will configure a trip itinerary and budget that enables you to have a uniquely insightful, educational, and relational experience with our ministry. For variations of trip length, location, or activity additions, the cost will be adjusted accordingly in collaboration with the Team Leader. In addition to our ministry activities, teams can book additional excursions, like safaris and gorilla excursions for an extra fee.
