PROFILE: NYANZA
Nyanza is a densely populated district located in southern Rwanda. Many people here rely on income from agriculture, though this region has one of the worst levels of soil fertility in the country. Nyanza district has a rich cultural heritage as the former monarchy’s headquarters. This community was devastated by the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Most children either do not attend school or attend irregularly.
