MINISTRY HIGHLIGHT
A Heart for Service: Elijah’s Journey with Africa New Life
From Uganda to Rwanda, Elijah’s journey has been marked by a heart for service and a passion for transforming lives. After graduating with a degree in Public Health, he joined Africa New Life in 2014 as a Child Welfare Officer. Right from the start, Elijah’s love for the children in our programs was clear. “When I started working with Africa New Life Ministries, I fell in love with the children,” Elijah recalls.
His commitment and dedication have led him through a variety of roles, ultimately finding his place in our Post-Secondary Program, where he now helps students from vulnerable backgrounds achieve what once seemed impossible—attending university. “I love seeing students from vulnerable families join university and pursue their dreams and ambitions. It’s something their families couldn’t afford, and it brings me so much joy,” he shares.
One of Elijah’s greatest joys is delivering the life-changing news to students that their college sponsorship has been confirmed. “Telling students their sponsors have agreed to sponsor them for college is the one thing I always look forward to. It’s a moment I don’t delegate to anyone else,” he says.
The word “adoration” comes from the Latin adorationem, meaning “worship.” This year, Let Us Adore Him
— Mureke Tumusingize.
If not for what the Gospels reveal, Christ’s birth might have seemed like an ordinary moment, noticed only by Mary and Joseph. Yet, we know this tiny, swaddled baby was the Prince of Peace, sent to rescue a people and show us how to live.
As we picture ourselves kneeling before the baby Jesus, let us be like Mary and Joseph—facing uncertainty, yet kneeling in awe. In the midst of our own fears and worries, may we find a peace beyond understanding by adoring Him. Heaven’s perfect gift, sent to transform everything.
May this tiny child, destined to be the King of Kings, fill our hearts with awe this season.
