Here a few helpful resources for putting together your virtual 5k fundraiser for emergency food relief in Rwanda!

How to kick-start your fundraiser:

  1. Show your commitment by donating toward your own fundraising goal.
  2. Invite your friends to give toward your efforts and share your fundraiser with their network.
  3. Remind everyone that $15 provides two weeks’ worth of emergency food for a family in Rwanda—so even small gifts add up quickly!
  4. The bigger the audience reached by your posts on social media, emails to friends, etc., the more meals we will be able to provide to those experiencing extreme food scarcity in Rwanda. So post widely and post often!
  5. Reach your goal by asking friends and family to give or join in as a participant in your campaign. They can walk or run with you or from home and ask their own network to contribute!

Sample for team captain or group: “Hi everyone! Several friends and I are joining Africa New Life supporters across the nation on Saturday, September 5, as we walk or run right where we are to raise money for food relief efforts for families in need in Rwanda. We would love for you to join us! If you are looking for an awesome reason to get outside and move your body, this is a great opportunity! Please comment below if you’d like to join our virtual team! We would also love for those who can to consider sharing our fundraiser with your network and making a donation. For every $15 raised, Africa New Life is able to provide a family in Rwanda with up to two weeks’ worth of food. Thank you for helping us provide emergency food to the families who need it most!”

Sample follow-up post sharing more about the need in Rwanda: “The COVID-19 pandemic has had an awful impact on Rwandan families. Many parents in Rwanda’s poorer communities receive their income through temporary labor. Now, the social shutdown and economic slowdown means many families have limited or NO income coming in and no way to access food. It’s a desperate situation, but YOU can help change it. Would you give a gift today toward my 5k fundraiser and help provide emergency food relief to the families in the most need?”
