NLCA HIGH SCHOOL
THE OPPORTUNITY

Due to the hard work of our students and teachers, New Life Christian Academy in Kayonza tested as the top secondary school in Rwanda for 2011. In 2012, we are excited to be fundraising to build New Life Christian High School on the Kayonza grounds. This high school will allow our secondary school students to continue their first-class education in the same location.
THE COMMUNITY
Kayonza is a small town 30 miles east of Kigali. Some sponsored children in Kayonza attend Africa New Life’s school, New Life Christian Academy; others attend government schools in the area. All children are taught English. Most families live in mud or banana leaf huts and struggle to find work. Men and women sometimes help with household chores or harvesting crops to earn a living.
In addition to New Life Christian Academy and a local church, Africa New Life runs several children’s homes in Kayonza that house 240 orphans, former street children and sponsored students. New Life Christian Academy has been the top public school in Eastern Rwanda for several consecutive years. We plan to continue this tradition of excellence with the construction of New Life Christian High School.
THE NEED
The cost estimate for New Life Christian High School is projected to be nearly $942,000. This estimate includes preparation of the worksite, construction, mechanical installation, electrical installation, painting, paving, taxes and other needs.
THE CHALLENGE
A generous donor has pledged to donate up to half of this project’s costs in matching funds,
to encourage others to give.
